"Ideallision" was a line of garments I created for the experimental fashion event, "Milquetoast". With Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA)'s Multi-Media Event class, "Milquetoast" was a collaborative project, a total of 16 designers each created their own collection, while working together to produce the fashion event.
Of Japanese and American descent, I investigated the ideals of beauty in the two cultures as well as her own struggle for identity through "Ideallision". The garments became a kind of cultural hybrid, incorporating and combining design elements and materials from Japan and the West. Exaggerated and distorted silhouettes in the garments address conflicting notions of the ideal female form in both cultures.
